4 year starter in football at Augustana as a running back, punt returner, and kick returner. Was selected as an All-Conference RB and USA Collegiate All-Star Team RB. Ran the 100m, 200m and 4x400m for the Augustana track and field team.
Corey Ungaro is a biochemist at the Gatorade Sports Science Institute (GSSI). He joined GSSI in April of 2011 in support of the research operations group. Corey is responsible for coordinating biochemistry protocols, managing biochemistry samples and biochemical analysis for both the research operations, education and athlete testing teams. He is also a member on the GSSI Technology Task Force Team. Corey grew up in Wonder Lake, Illinois and attend Woodstock H.S. where he was a three-sport team captain in football, wrestling and track, and received the Athlete of the Year award his senior year. He was fortunate enough to go on to participate in football and track while earning his BA in Biology at Augustana College. Corey then went on to Roosevelt University to earn his MS in Biotechnology and Chemistry, with his graduate research focused on the effects of the compound resveratrol on cell signaling death of colorectal cancer cells. In his free time, Corey likes to run 5K and 10K competitively, play guitar, and participate in team sports.
