Played collegiate baseball, coached high-school baseball, cross-country and track & field, currently enjoys running and weightlifting.
Jon-Kyle is an exercise scientist at the Gatorade Sports Science Institute (GSSI) working in athlete services. His responsibilities include performance testing in the lab and field that conducts tests of elite level athletes from around the world, and producing athlete's individual reports. Prior to joining GSSI Jon-Kyle was an Assistant Professor at Texas A&M University-Commerce for a year and at the University of Montevallo for over 3 years. During his time in academia he taught various courses in the areas of nutrition, applied and clinical physiology. He has authored and co-authored publications in both national and international peer-reviewed journal articles and presented at national conferences. His research interests include caffeine, thermoregulation, hydration, and athletic performance. Originally from Hopkinsville, Kentucky, Jon-Kyle earned his Bachelor’s and Master’s from Western Kentucky University in Exercise Science. During his time at Western Kentucky he worked in the area of strength & conditioning with a variety of individual and team sport athletes. In 2009 he graduated with his PhD from the University of Alabama in Human Performance. Jon-Kyle is certified by the National Strength and Conditioning Association (CSCS) and by the American College of Sports Medicine (HFS).
